I’m a licensed professional teacher and a social manager. Currently, I am working as an online English teacher at Edusori. I have a background in managing Facebook and Instagram pages from my past apprenticeship under Laya Digital Curators and Avenue.8, with whom I volunteered.
I graduated from the University of St. La Salle–Bacolod with a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education, Majoring in English. After graduation, I d----------- to work online, so I enrolled in Surge and Virtualahan training. I received a scholarship for Virtualahan's Digital Skills Training. They promote inclusivity by offering scholarships to PWDs like me.
The training led to an apprenticeship under Laya Digital Curators which served as my first practical experience in social media management. I had to resign midway because I needed to review for my licensure exam. Thankfully, I passed. Then, I volunteered as a social media manager at Avenue.8. For most of my experience, I focused on content creation which includes copywriting and graphics design (using Canva). I also scheduled posts using the built-in feature in Meta Business Suite.
There are three things that I learned from my experience. First, it’s okay to be intimidated by what you don’t know and now you need to learn. It is part of growth. However, don’t let them overpower you or stop you from dealing with the matter at hand. Otherwise, you won’t grow. You won’t learn. You’ll stagnate. Second, I understood the value of compromises. It’s important to find a compromise between differing opinions or ideas. It’s a way to keep healthy and productive relationships. Lastly, keep on learning. It’s the only way to keep up with a fast-paced and growing world.
Life is difficult and will forever be. That’s why we are gifted with the power of reason. That we may learn to see the moon's positive light amidst the night's darkness. Let’s keep in touch.
