I have 10 years of work experience in the IT BPO Industry wherein the most recent 5 years was as a Business Analyst.
The applications that I supported were for AT&T’s Sales Organization. These applications were Customer Request Management, Order Management, Reports Generation, Documents Library, and Learning Platform Tools that I supported all at the same time.
Since the applications these applications were already existing, most of my experience were just related to maintaining the applications and adding new features. However, there was one application that we had to rewrite the entire code and relaunch.
As part of my role as a Business Analyst, I monitor and groom the Product Backlog. Since the applications were on maintenance phase, most of the tickets that we work on are Bugs reported by the users. Whenever, there are bugs, I validate them either by personally testing the application or connecting with the user, so they connect demonstrate what they are experiencing. While engaging the user, I gather as much information that may be able to help the development team in resolving the issue.
Whenever the Business Unit wants to add new features, I sit with them in a meeting where we talk about their request and gather as much information about what is required. I document the requirements in the Product Requirements Document. For some complex new features, I prepare Process Flow Diagrams to clarify the scenarios and to visualize the design so that the Developers can understand.
Once the Requirements and the Designs are done, I create User Stories in JIRA so that the new features can be added in the Product Backlog and so that the Developers can pick it up in the next Sprint. Once the features are ready, I personally test them in the Staging Environment to make sure that the Acceptance Criteria is met. Once the Acceptance Criteria is met, I then facilitate the User Acceptance Testing wherein, actual users will test the new features and then provide their feedback. Once the users confirm that the new features are working well and matches their requirements, I document their feedback and then we deploy the code to Production.
Aside from the acceptance testing, I also conduct regular end-to-end testing to check make sure that the application is in good functioning state.
My goal in looking for my next position is to find a place where I can gain more knowledge and experience in the IT Business Analyst role and App Development Field so that I can take on further advance my career in this industry. My goal in the next 5 years is to become a Portfolio Manager.
I am looking forward to working with any industry, and I can confidently offer the following technical and soft skills:
