I previously work on the provider side through a healthcare BPO, supporting a U.S.-based ophthalmology practice. My primary responsibilities are insurance eligibility and benefits verification. I verify active coverage, review benefits and patient financial responsibilities, and determine whether referrals or prior authorization are required. I also communicate with insurance payers to clarify coverage and document the information in our practice management system. I'm now looking to expand that experience into the authorization side of the revenue cycle.
