In the year Y2K, I embarked upon my professional journey, stepping into the world of work with great anticipation. Amidst the prevailing options of joining the ranks of fast-food staff or securing a casual position within the government, I chose the former. Although the management extended an offer for a management trainee position as my contract drew to a close, I opted to decline and ventured into entrepreneurship by establishing my restaurant. Regrettably, the emergence of food courts in the vicinity hindered the success of my startup venture.
Upon learning of a casual position vacancy at the National Statistics Office, now known as the Philippine Statistics Office, through a relative, I seized the opportunity and was fortunate to secure the seat. As a Request Service Officer (RSO), I diligently handled inquiries and requests on vital documents such as live birth, death, certificate of no marriage, and marriage certificates. Additionally, I was entrusted with the responsibility of verifying and releasing documents to requesting individuals.
Following the conclusion of my contract, I d----------- to further my education, leveraging my Bachelor of Mass Communication degree to pursue professional education units necessary to qualify for the licensure examination for teachers, which I successfully passed. This marked the inception of my teaching career, spanning diverse roles from local (daycare teacher) to international (ESL specialist in a Language Center in the Maldives), culminating in remote teaching as an online ESL coach. Presently, I am celebrating my 17th year in the realm of online ESL teaching, concurrently managing several responsibilities aimed at facilitating the continuous growth of the company I am affiliated with.
In addition to my role as an ESL coach/tutor, my responsibilities encompass screening teacher applicants for interviews, conducting orientation and training sessions for newly hired teachers, managing teachers, developing curriculum and lesson plans, and overseeing payroll administration.
Motivated by a desire to enhance my skills and demonstrate my dedication as a professional, I aspire to venture into the realm of virtual assistance to further challenge myself and contribute meaningfully to the industry.
