Vernie Glojun T. Lasmarias is a Licensed Professional Teacher currently working with the Philippine Senate Basic Education Committee through the Alumni Ambassadorship Program of Teach for the Philippines (TFP). As an education advocate, he actively supports various causes benefiting Philippine education. He serves as a Curriculum and Material Development Officer for the Higala sa Pagbasa community engagement project in Cagayan de Oro City and is the Alumni Association President and a Governing Board of Trustees member at Opol Community College.
He has a degree in Elementary Education and topped the nationally administered Licensure Examination for Teachers (Elementary Level) following his graduation out of 90,700 other test takers. This feat led him to become a lecturer for board exam preparation for aspiring Filipino teachers in the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Thailand.
Before his present engagement in national and local public policy, Vernie was a Teacher-Fellow at TFP, where he gained firsthand experience as a public school teacher. He taught Mathematics to Grades 3, 4, and 5 through an online distance learning modality during the-----------school year and Grade 6 Social Studies in a face-to-face setting during the-----------school year.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Vernie and his school group implemented various trainings, programs, and interventions for students, parents, and teachers. As the group's Community Engagement Representative, he led the implementation of the Batang Bayani Life Skills Program, developed and initiated the Higala sa Pagbasa community engagement project, and coordinated with the Local School Board, Schools Division Office, Barangay Council, Parent-Teacher Association, and other school stakeholders.
Before transitioning to a role directly involved in public education development, he worked as a Training and Development Officer and served as an Internal Quality Auditor for ISO 9001:2015 compliance. Additionally, prior to graduating from college, he gained experience as a Customer Support Representative and a Subject Matter Expert for US and Canada Telecom BPO clients.
