I am a PHRN and a USRN with an IELTS band score of 7.5.
During my tenure in my previous institution, I was given the opportunity to take on the role as a staff nurse, assistant charge nurse, and a charge nurse. As a staff nurse, I was given 8-10 patient load on an average day or season and I also have different responsibilities to cater to my patients. This includes medication administration through different routes, tracheostomy care, suctioning, bed bath, sponge bath, feeding via the NGT, OGT, PEG tube or via total parenteral nutrition, etc. and most importantly documentation of all interventions done. As for assistant charge nursing, I was assigned in the division of loads for all the staff nurses as well as the nursing assistants. I was also in charge of carrying out doctors' orders with the guidance of my charge nurse. After that, I was then assigned in a luxury suite(general ward) as charge nurse where I was tasked to oversee the ins and outs of the station. I did not have any assistant charge nurse therefore, I had to do things on my own. I divide the loads fairly to the nurses on duty as well as the nursing assistants, I carry out doctors' orders from laboratories to procedures which allowed me to collaborate with the different departments in the hospital. When all of that is done, I then relay the results of these tests to the physicians for the continuity of care.
Aside from the hospital experience that I gained over the past year, I am also certified by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support. I have also been trained by Gesundheits Synergy, an affiliate of the American Medtech Organization, for basic phlebotomy and basic intravenous therapy. I also took my Philippine Licensure examination with the board rating of 86.4% where the highest rank was 90%.
