Over the past two years I've moved from Cadet Engineer to Quantity Engineer, picking up Bluebeam Revu, PlanSwift, and Excel along the way as my main tools for turning drawings into measurable, defensible numbers. My habit of double-checking quantities against site conditions has caught costly discrepancies before they became problems — and earned me a Most Improved Engineer citation for it.
Right now I'm running takeoffs and cost estimates across several very different project types at once — residential towers, a mall, a foot bridge, a sports facility — without letting the standard slip on any of them because another was due sooner. I'd rather ask a question early than guess quietly, which is the same instinct that had me leading two engineering student organizations back in university.
